About Us
Founded in 1909, Dalian Maritime University (DMU) is one of the largest and best maritime universities and is the only key maritime institution under the Ministry of Transport, China. Regarding “Scientific Navigation” as its educational feature and through years’ of hard work and development, DMU today enjoys a high reputation internationally as an excellent center of maritime education and training as recognized by the International Maritime Organization. As a comprehensive university, DMU also provides complete sets of academic disciplines at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including liberal arts, science, engineering, management, law, economics, philosophy, and foreign languages.
About IEC
Established in May 2009, International Education College (IEC) is the Department of International Students Affairs of DMU. It advances DMU as a global learning community by acting as a bridge between DMU and the overseas students seeking educational opportunities at DMU. The main function and task of IEC is to co-ordinate international student recruitment and the related management work of teaching, livelihood and social activities. It is also responsible for providing Chinese language training for international students. At present, IEC is composed of Admissions Office, Students Affairs Office, Academic Affairs Office, Comprehensive Service OfficeInternational Marketing Office, and Chinese Teachers Office.

Relying on the University’s powerful strength and abundant resources, and adhering to the guiding principles of “distinctive, quality oriented, good reputation, perfect management, and excellent service”, IEC is committed to providing the highest quality of education for international students.

Situated close to the campus lake, IEC has one teaching building equipped with modern teaching facilities and two apartment buildings (389 single rooms and 179 double rooms) furnished with all necessary living facilities. All of which create a favorable studying and living environment for international students.

In 2015, the number of international students of DMU has risen to 759 person-times. They came from 70 different countries and regions, including undergraduate students, graduate students, language students, and visiting scholars.
