Dalian Maritime University (DMU) was enrolled in the first batch of institutions under Chinese Government Scholarship Program in 1955. As one of the largest and best maritime universities and the only key maritime institution under the Ministry of Transport, China, DMU was entrusted by China
Scholarship Council and Liaoning Provincial Government to conduct independent recruitment of
scholarship students since 2008. Up to now, hundreds of international students under this scholarship
from all over the world have been educated at DMU. 
Apart from the full scholarships, DMU also provides self-funded students with Dalian Government
Scholarship and DMU Scholarships as partial scholarships.

Chinese Government Scholarship Program
Chinese Government Scholarship is a full scholarship to support outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. Dalian Maritime University (DMU) was enrolled in the first batch of institutions under Chinese Government Scholarship Program in 1955. As the key maritime institution under the Ministry of Transport, China, DMU was entrusted by China Scholarship Council to conduct independent recruitment of scholarship students since 2008. Up to now, hundreds of international students under this scholarship from all over the world have been educated at DMU
 
●Subsidized Target and Scholarship Coverage
1. Subsidized target: this scholarship program is aimed at assisting master’s degree and doctoral degree candidates applying for studying at DMU in the year of application /admission .
2. Scholarship Coverage:
——Scholarship recipients are exempt from application fee and tuition.
——Free on-campus accommodation.
——Monthly living allowance (master’s degree students: 3,000RMB/month; doctoral degree students: 3,500RMB/month).
——Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China.
Note: Scholarship recipients registering on or before 15th of the registration month will be granted the full living allowance of that
month. Recipients registering after 15th of the registration month will be granted half of the living allowance of that month.

●Qualifications for Scholarship Application
1. The applicant must be a foreign citizen in good health.
2. The applicant must not be a registered student in Chinese universities upon application (graduates from Chinese universities must have been graduated for more than one year).
3. Education and Age Requirements:
The Applicant for master’s degree study should have obtained a bachelor’s degree or will obtain a bachelor’s degree before July 2018 and not be older than 35; the applicant for doctoral degree study should have obtained a master’s degree or will obtain a master’s degree before July 2018 and not be older than 40.
4. The major an applicant applied for studying at DMU should belong to the same discipline of his/her highest level of education.
5. The applicant should not be holding scholarships of any other category supported by Chinese Government or local governments in China.

2. Applicants must hold a valid HSK (Grade 5) certificate. If not, the one year study of Chinese language must be offered before the start of the professional course. The cost of the Chinese language program will be automatically included in the scholarship by the China Scholarship Council of Ministry of Education.

●Application Materials (in duplicate)
Applicants shall truthfully fill in the application form and provide the real application documents completely (application materials should be submitted in hard copies in duplicate to Admissions Office of International Students’ Education Center of DMU).
1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship: Applicants must finish the online application procedure at CSC Online Application System for International Students. Please go to www.csc.edu.cn/laihua, complete the required information, submit the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online and print two hard copies. Please do not make online application through DMU International Students Online Application System.
Note: ① Our agency number is 10151.
     ② Your application documents would not be reviewed if you didn’t finish the online application.
2. Highest diploma:A notarized copy of the highest diploma should be submitted. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English. The notarized documents should be submitted in original copies.
Note: ① If you are a graduate of 2018, please submit an official proof of student status which must be marked with the expected graduation date and the time to obtain the prospective diploma.
     ② If you are a PhD candidate, you should submit degree certificates and transcripts of both bachelor’s degree and master’s degree as required.
     ③ If you are an employed person, apart from the degree certificate and transcripts, please also submit your certificate of employment.
3. Academic Transcripts: Notarized copies of all undergraduate transcripts should be submitted if you are a master’s degree candidate; notarized copies of transcripts of both undergraduate study and master’s degree study should be submitted if you are a PhD candidate. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English. The notarized documents should be submitted in original copies.
4. A Study Plan or Research Proposal: A study plan or research proposal written in Chinese shall be no fewer than 2000 Chinese characters for master’s degree study and 3000 Chinese characters for doctoral degree study; a study plan or research proposal written in English shall be no fewer than 2500 words. The study plan or research proposal should include educational background and work experience, results of academic research, research plan for graduate study, and personal goals and plans after graduation, etc.
5. Recommendation letters: Applicants should provide two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English. The notarized documents should be submitted in original copies.
6. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form: The photocopy must be enclosed with one photo of the applicant; the original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form designated by Chinese quarantine authority could be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org and should be printed double-sided. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.
7. Photocopy of Valid Passport: The photocopies should include all the personal information pages of your passport.
8. Photocopy of HSK Certificate: If you have an HSK certificate, please submit a photocopy of it (not a compulsory and necessary requirement).
9. Photocopy of TOEFL or IELTS Test Report: Applicants applying for English-medium majors should submit a test report of TOEFL or IELTS (not applicable for the applicants whose official language is English). Applicants without the above mentioned documents should provide other kinds of official certificate of proficiency in English.
10. If an applicant has published any paper, been granted any award or scholarship, or has any other certificate of academic ability, the title, abstract and publication or any other valid documentation should be provided.

*The above documents should be sent to DMU before 15th April in the year of admission.
