On the occasion of the 112thanniversary of China’sHigher Maritime Education and Dalian Maritime University(DMU), InternationalStudents’Education Center(ISEC)has organized a series of activities for international students to "Know the History of DMU, Love the University,BeFriends withChina, and SpreadIts Spirit tothe World", in order to further promote the awareness of understanding the University, honoring the University,being friends withChina, and lovingChina.
On June 9th,twelveinternational students experiencedthe excellent traditional Chinese culture and feltthe charm of traditional folk art.Through the teacher's explanation, the students learned the Four Treasures of the Study,the basic skills and methods of traditional Chinese painting,andtheorigin of paper-cut,as well asappreciated various interesting paper-cut works.With a pair of scissors and a piece of red paper, the studentsusedthe red scissors and experienced the art of paper-cuton his fingertips.Theycut out a series of new works.
On June 13th, 28 international studentsfrom 17 countries visited the Exhibition Hall to have a new understanding of the century-old university and embrace the blue dream. Under the guidance of the instructor, the students further learned the history of DMU and its ups and downs. The pictures and models aroused their great interest in DMU’s history and they also expressed their admiration for the brilliant history of DMU and its outstanding contribution to the country.
These activities transcended the national boundaries, further enhanced the cohesion of international students, stimulated their enthusiasm and creativity, helped them better understand DMU and Chinese traditional culture, enriched their extracurricular life, and enhanced their love for DMU and friendship with China. After that, the international students greatly admired the 112-year history of DMU and the excellent profound traditional Chinese culture. They expressed that they must study hard in China, feel and spread the Chinese culture.
