DMU Vice President and International Students Attended “Global Sustainable Transport Talent (GSTT)” Training Program

In the morning of Oct. 14th, the“Global Sustainable Transport Talent (GSTT)” Training Program, organized by Transport Management Institute of Ministry of Transportand China Merchants Foundation, jointly participated by Dalian Maritime University, Chang’an University, Shanghai Maritime University, Southwest Jiaotong University, and China Merchants Port Group Co. Ltd, supported by Information Office of the State Council was kicked off in the Lecture Hall of Transport Management Institute of Ministry of Transport. Related managers of organizing units, and 80 international students from transportation industry institutions around China attended the opening ceremony.

DMU vice president Prof. Zhao Youtao attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He said that transport is the basic and link of economic development, the support and guidance of social modernization, and the medium and bridge of cultural and economic exchanges among countries around the globe. In recent years, China has experienced rapid development in transport industry and has also helped to promote transport development of the world especially developing countries. As the 2nd United Nations Global Conference on Sustainable Transport is being held in Beijing, the“Global Sustainable Transport Talent (GSTT)” Training Programis a good opportunity for industry young talents to know more about China transport, to communicate with each other, and progress together. He hopes that all attendees take the opportunity to grasp the experience of Chinese transport development, to share opinions on transport sustainability, and to build the beautiful future of human community.

From October 14th to 16th, the 2nd United Nations Global Conference on Sustainable Transport will be held in Beijing with the theme as“Sustainable Transport, Sustainable Development”.To thoroughly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s reply to international students of Peking University in June 2021, and to contribute to the 2nd United Nations Global Conference on Sustainable Transport, collaboratively organized byTransport Management Institute of Ministry of Transportand China Merchants Foundation, and jointly participated by industry institutions around the country, the Global Sustainable Transport Talent (GSTT) Training Program will be commenced from 13th to 25th Oct. in Beijing and Shenzhen respectively. The program aims at focusing on providing platform for young international talents to communicate about sustainable development of transport, to enhance mutual exchanges and to share good experiences.


With previous preparation and selection, 22 DMU international students were invited to attend the training program. In the coming days, together with other international students from industry institutions around China, they will undertake theoretical and practical training, observation and seminars, and have meetings with related officers from Ministry of Transport of China,Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and ChineseDiplomatic and Consular Missions.

As one of the organizing unites of the training program, DMU also organized one of the theme activities of the training program--“My Story with China Transport”Essay Competition. The event was actively supported by industry institutions and units around the country with 75 essays being submitted. After careful evaluation, totally 50 essays were given 1st, 2nd, 3rdAwards and were collected into“My Story with China Transport”Essay Collection with the aim to share with more people the special story, the deep feeling and the beautiful expectation between young talents and China transport.

Telling China story and sharing transport future, it’s believed that theGlobal Sustainable Transport Talent (GSTT) Training Program will provide an excellent platform for industry young talents to share, communicate and progress together. It’s also believed that through the event, the story of China transport will be transferred to more countries around the world, to enhance the sustainable development of world transport and common prosperity of human community.
