In response to the theme ofForum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), promoting mutual understanding between Chinese and African people, and telling stories of China-Africa friendship and cooperation, the 2021 “China and Africa” Video Works Competition, jointly organized by the Secretariat of the Follow-up Committee of the Chinese side of FOCAC and China Foreign Languages Publishingand Distribution Administration,waslaunched in July,2021. At the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Education Department of Liaoningprovince and the Foreign Affairs Office of Liaoning Provincial Government jointly organized universitiesof Liaoningto participate in the competition.
Centering on the theme of “Focusing on China-Africa Friendship,Creating a Better Future”,alluniversitiesof Liaoningprovince collected videos, pictures and other works fromtheirAfrican students to actively tell the friendship stories between Liaoningprovince of Chinaand Africa, andexpress goodfeelingsofAfrican studentsforChina and Liaoningprovince.
After active preparation, application and expert evaluation,video worksfromfourDMUAfrican studentswononeExcellenceAwardand threeFriendshipAwards respectively in 2021 “Liaoning Province and Africa Video Works Competition”. Meanwhile,DMUwon the honor of “Excellent Organization Award”.
This activity again showsgoodspiritsandoutstanding comprehensive qualitiesof DMU international students, andtheir good vision oflovingChinese cultureand conveying China’svoice. It is believedthatDMU internationalstudents willcontinue to have a deep understanding of China and enhance communication and exchanges in their future study and life, as well as act as a friendlymessengerforChinese and foreign cultural exchanges!

1、LEBILE ILERIOLUWA JOSEPH, male, Nigerian, received his master’s degree in Marine Engineering from Dalian Maritime University in June, 2021. Currently, he is a doctoral student majoring in Marine Engineering of class 2021. His supervisor is Zhang Hongpeng.

Introduction: The author loved Chinese food very much, especially the grilled fish in the canteen. After learning how to make it on the Internet, the author bought ingredients and decided to try to cook it himself. From cutting fish, when and how many to put spices, to garnish preparation, the author made detailed records and explained the process of making grilled fish. After a series of delicate craft, he completed the delicious spicy grilled fish successfully, which won other students’praise. The author also felt the charm of Chinese cuisine culture in the process of learning to make Chinese cuisine.
2、MASSAMBA-COURTOIS JOANES BENEDICTE, female, from Republic of the Congo received her bachelor’s degree in Marine Science from Dalian Maritime University in July, 2016 and her master’s degree in Marine Chemistry from Dalian Maritime University in July, 2019. Currently, she is a doctoral student majoring in Environmental Science and Engineering of 2019 class. Her supervisor is Song Chengwen.

She hoped that the friendship between China andRepublic of the Congowould last forever and welcomed young students from all over the world to study in China.
3、MLEPO ANDREW THOMAS, male, Malawian, received his bachelor’s degree in Electronic Information Engineering from Dalian Maritime University in July, 2014 and master’s degree in Business Administration from Dalian Maritime University in June, 2017. Currently, he is a doctoral student majoring in Logistics Engineering and Management of 2019 class. His supervisor is Zheng Jianfeng.

4、YOUA NAROU, female, Togolese, is a doctoral student majoring in Law of Dalian Maritime University of 2017 class. Her supervisor is Han Lixin.
Video works:“My China Story: Togo-China Relations, an Examplary Model of South-South Cooperation”.
Introduction: The author took the traditional friendship between China and Togo as the starting point, and recorded the assistance China had made in the cultural construction, medical aid and infrastructure construction of Togo in the video. Through shooting the Confucius institute, the hospital built by China, the Togo parliament building, etc., the video embodied the Togolese profound friendship of the Chinese government and people. It also demonstrated the great significance of friendship between the two countries from the perspective of a young student, as well as her anticipation to further promote the development of China-Africa relations and build a better future.
