No Matter Where Life Takes Me Next, A Part of My Heart Will Always Remain Here

As I stand at the threshold of graduation in June 2025, I find myself reflecting deeply on the incredible journey I’ve had at Dalian Maritime University. Being an international student far from home is never easy, but DMU made this distant place feel like a second home—a place where I grew not only academically, but also personally and emotionally.
When I first arrived, I was filled with excitement, curiosity, and a bit of uncertainty. I wondered how I would adapt to a new country, a new culture, and a completely new way of life. But from day one, the warm welcome I received from the faculty, staff, and fellow students helped ease those worries. DMU truly embraces its international students and supports them in every way possible. This inclusive and respectful environment allowed me to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Academically, my experience at DMU has been nothing short of transformative. The courses were rigorous, well-structured, and always connected to real-world applications. My professors were knowledgeable and approachable, always willing to guide and challenge me to think critically and creatively. Through engaging lectures, group projects, and research opportunities, I not only learned the core principles of my field but also gained valuable skills in teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving.
Outside the classroom, I found countless ways to grow and connect with others. I participated in cultural exchange programs, volunteered at student events, and attended campus cultural exchange meetings, where I met people from diverse backgrounds. These experiences taught me the importance of intercultural communication and gave me friendships that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Whether it was celebrating traditional Chinese festivals on campus or sharing my own culture with others, these moments created a deep sense of belonging and mutual understanding. One of my most memorable experiences was participating in the International Cultural Festivals, where students from different countries came together to showcase music, dance, cuisine, and traditions from around the world. Events like these made me proud of my heritage while also opening my eyes to the beauty of cultural diversity. Now, as Dalian Maritime University celebrates its 116th anniversary, I feel incredibly honored to be part of its long and proud history. DMU has not only educated generations of maritime professionals but also shaped global citizens who are ready to contribute to a more connected and compassionate world. I am grateful to be among them.
Looking back, I see how much I’ve grown over the past few years. Looking forward, I carry the lessons, values, and memories of DMU with me. No matter where life takes me next, a part of my heart will always remain here.
