Dalian Maritime University (DMU) was enrolled in the first batch of institutions under Chinese Government Scholarship Program in 1955. As one of the largest and best maritime universities and the only key maritime institution under the Ministry of Transport, China, DMU was entrusted by China
Scholarship Council and Liaoning Provincial Government to conduct independent recruitment of
scholarship students since 2008. Up to now, hundreds of international students under this scholarship
from all over the world have been educated at DMU. 
Apart from the full scholarships, DMU also provides self-funded students with Dalian Government
Scholarship and DMU Scholarships as partial scholarships.

CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS


Part I.  Categories, Duration, Coverage and Instruction Language

1. Funding Category: Master and Doctor Degree candidate


2. Funding Duration: The scholarship covers the duration of study, 3 academic years(taught in Chinese years) or 2 academic years (taught in English)  for master degree program, and 4 academic years taught in Chinese or English for doctor degree program taught. It shall not be extended in principle.


3. Funding Coverage:

-Tuition fee, application fee and free-on campus accommodation;

- Monthly living allowance: for master degree candidates, it is 3,000RMB/month for doctor degree candidates, it is 3,500RMB/month;

-Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China;

Note:The international traveling expense is not covered by this scholarship program.


4. Instruction Language: Chinese or English (please search for more details of admission majors, awarded degree, research orientation and duration of study through the official website of ISEC at DMU)


Part II  Where, When and How to Apply


1. Application Processing Agency:Admission Department, ISEC of DMU


2. Deadline of Application: January 31st of 2025


3. How to Apply: complete the required information and submit the required materials only through CSC portal of http://www.campuschina.org

Note: Please do not make online application once more through DMU International Students Online Application System.


Part III  Eligibility

1. Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health,both mentally and physically.


2. The requirements for applicants’ degree and age must:

●be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master’s programs;

●be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoral  programs;


3. The applicants are not allowed to enjoy other scholarships (excluding lump-sum rewards) established by the Chinese government at all levels and various institutions. Once found out, their eligibility of Chinese Government Scholarship shall be canceled and the Chinese Government Scholarship already received shall be refunded. Those who intentionally conceal their financial support shall not be allowed to apply for Chinese government scholarships in three years, in addition to being disqualified


Part IV Application Materials

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship: please follow up with the steps of attachment with “Instructions of the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System”

Note: Please do not make online application once more through DMU International Students Online Application System.

2. Highest diploma:the applicant should submit a notarized copy of his/her highest diploma. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

Notes:

① If you are a graduate of the year you apply, please submit an official proof of student status/pre-graduation certificate which must be marked with the expected graduation date and the time to obtain the prospective diploma.

② If you are an employed person, apart from the degree certificate and transcripts, please also submit an original copy of your certificate of employment.

3. Academic Transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards): notarized copies of all transcripts should be submitted by the applicant. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

4. A Study Plan or Research Proposal: a study plan or research proposal written in Chinese shall be no fewer than 2000 words or in English shall be no fewer than 2500 words. The study plan or research proposal should include educational background and work experience, results of academic research, research orientation and plan for your applying major, and personal goals and plans after graduation, etc.

Note: the research orientation, which is the most important information for the related college to assign the supervisor for the applicant, must be written clearly in the study plan

5. 2 Recommendation letters: the letters should be issued in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors,who used to be employed by the former study institution.

6. Pre-admission Letter: this letter must be issued by the admission office from ISEC,DMU

7. The copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form: the photocopy must be enclosed with one photo of the applicant, the original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form designated by Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded from http://www.campuschina.org. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form with the official stamp and the doctors signature of the hospital.Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid only for 6 months.

8. Photocopy of Valid Passport: the photocopies should include all the personal Information and the expire date of passport should be later than April Of 2026.

9. Language Level Certificate: For Chinese-taught program, the applicants must hold HSK 4 Level(for master degree)/HSK 5 Level( for doctor degree) or higher levels. For English-taught program, the applicants must hold IELTS score of 6.0 or  above/TOEFL score of 90 or above (except for applicants whose official language is English). Applicants without the official English certificates as mentioned above should provide other related official certificate of proficiency in English.

10. Certificate of No Criminal Record: should be issued within 6 months by related police department in local country.

11. Copy of Photograph: the size should be 3cm*4cm, with white background and not bigger than 2M)

12. Others: If an applicant has published any paper, been granted any award or scholarship, or has any other certificate of academic ability, the title, abstract and publication or any other valid documentation shall be provided.

Note: The Applicants should truthfully fill in the application form and provide the valid application materials and send all the application materials in zip format to  official email address of  study@dlmu.edu.cn. The email should be named as “DMU+ Serial No.+Full Name”, like DMU20251100001+Surname+Given Name+Name of Program (Failure to submit application materials by email shall be deemed as abandonment)


Part V  Application Procedure

★Step 1: Visit http://www.campuschina.org, click “Scholarship Application Online for International Students” and complete the required information and submit the required materials. The ‘Program Category’ is Type B and Agency Number’ is 10151 (Once the correct Agency Number’ is entered, the name of the agency will be recognized as Dalian Maritime University automatically)


★Step 2: Send all the application materials in ZIP format to official email address of study@dlmu.edu.cn. The email should be named as “DMU+ Serial No.+Full Name+Name of Program”, like DMU20251100001+ Surname+Given Name+Name of Program (Failure to submit application materials by email shall be deemed as abandonment)



Part VI Admission Notice and Schedule

1. The final result of admission shall be noticed by official email to the scholars at the end of July, 2025. ( the specific schedule shall be subject to the timetable of CSC)

2. Once the official admission is confirmed, the Admissions Notice and JW201 Form  shall be posted by delivery or sent through official email by DMU.

3. Once the official admission is decided, the seat of scholarship should be not given up or transferred by the scholars optionally. The Admission Institution, Admission Major and Duration of Study should be not modified basically. After entry to China, the scholars should comply with the related regulations for International Scholarship Students.
