To express gratitude to foreign friends who have long supported and participated in Dalian's economic construction and social development, to enhance the urban business environment, and to promote high-quality development, the 2024 Chinese New Year Reception for Foreign Friends in Dalian, hosted by the Dalian Municipal People's Government, was held on February 2, 2024 at the beautiful Bangchuidao. Xiong Maoping, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, attended the event. Chen Shaowang, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Dalian, attended and delivered a New Year greeting. More than 100 Chinese and foreign guests, including Wang Qiyao, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, and Gong Fuqing, Chairman of the Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, gathered together to welcome the New Year with laughter and joy. Seven representatives of international students of Dalian Maritime University from four countries were invited to participate in this reception and delivered passionate performance.
At the reception, international students and Chinese and foreign guests not only appreciated intangible cultural heritage and calligraphy art, but also shared the festive atmosphere of traditional Chinese festivals, creating a rich and colorful New Year atmosphere. During the performance session, our international students made their final appearance and jointly sang "Running Dalian" to express their love for the city of Dalian and their New Year greetings to their second hometown, China.
"The rainbow by the Xinghai Bay is the bridge that crosses the sea through clouds. Boiling on the azure coast, it is the pride that stands tall in Northeast Asia!" As the passionate melody of the song, all leaders and guests present were infected by it. When the line at the end of the song goes "Run Dalian, I love you, come on", everyone's pride and cohesion are instantly stimulated, working together to cheer for the future development of Dalian.
The successful hosting of this New Year Reception not only demonstrates Dalian's determination and sincerity in opening up to the outside world, but also provides a good opportunity for foreign friends to further understand Chinese culture and experience the atmosphere of traditional Chinese festivals. The International Students’ Education Center of Dalian Maritime University will always take it as its responsibility to cultivate international talents who are knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about China. Its mission is to serve Dalian's economic construction and high-quality social development, and to contribute to the continuous development of Dalian, the shining pearl of Northeast Asia.
