In order to help new international students gain a deeper understanding of maritime culture, experience the unique teaching practice platform of the University, and enhance their recognition and enthusiasm for the shipping industry, on the occasion of the open day of the school training vessel "Yukun" on March 30th, the International Students’ Education Center organized more than 40 international students from more than 10 countries to participate in a unique "First Class of the School" activity - "Yukun" visit.

The "Yukun" is China's first self-developed, designed, and key equipment imported specialized maritime teaching and internship vessel invested and built by Dalian Maritime University. It is one of the most advanced specialized ocean going internship vessels in the world and has a milestone significance in China's higher maritime education. Under the guidance and organization of the crew and students interning on board, the international students boarded the vessel in an orderly manner and embarked on an immersive voyage of exploration. Climbing up the spiral staircase and onto the deck, students arrived at the bridge. Captain Zheng Guoping personally introduced the communication and navigation equipment and principles on the bridge, explaining the principles of modern ship operation and practical knowledge of navigation. Boarding the "Yukun" vessel for the first time, the international students couldn't hide their excitement, and the modern teaching and internship facilities, as well as standardized ship management, impressed everyone. They listened attentively throughout the entire process, stopped to ask questions from time to time, and had in-depth discussions with Captain Zheng on topics such as ship berthing procedures and emergency response. Finally, the international students also watched the "Yukun" promotional video, gaining a deeper understanding of the history and achievements of the training vessel.

As an important mobile teaching base of Dalian Maritime University, "Yukun" not only carries modern maritime teaching internships and research tasks, but also serves as a bridge to showcase the strength of China's maritime education achievements and promote cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. Through on-site experience, this event planted the seeds of maritime spirit in the hearts of international students, broadened their horizons, and further consolidated the consensus of "One World, One Dream Together".

This semester, the International Students’ Education Center has launched the "First Class of the School" series of activity, which organized international students to visit the school's Maritime Education Museum, the "Yukun" vessel, and received legal lectures and anti fraud propaganda from police officers, which expanded the dimensions of international student education in the form of "second classroom". This further enhances the sense of belonging and honor of international students towards the University, strengthening students emotion to the school as well as China.
