According to notice by Ministry of Education of China about Publicizing the Winners of Excellent International Students Award of Year 2019,with outstanding achievements in academic field and social service and contributions, DMU 2016 batch PhD student DO VAN CUONG from Vietnam and 2018 batch PhD student ARSLAN MUHAMMAD from Pakistan were among the winners of the award.
Totally 582 international students from 127 universities around China won the award this time,including 6 from Dalian (from Dalian Maritime University and Dalian Medical University respectively). The total number of DMU international students winning the award in recent years amounts to 9 which is in the front rank nationwide.
The Award of Excellent International Students by Chinese Government was established in year 2015 which aims to encourage international students with outstanding achievements in course study,scientific research and social activities, in order to cultivate more excellent international talents who develop in a all-around way with social responsibilities.
Introduction of DMU Award Winners
1.Mr. DO VAN CUONG, Chinese name:杜文强, Vietnamese, 2016 batch PhD student majoring in Nautical Science and Technology, supervisor: Prof. Ren Hongxiang. As a young lecturer from Vietnam Maritime University, Mr.DO VAN CUONG was granted Chinese Government Scholarship and started learning Chinese language in DMU from September 2015, and then started PhD program from September 2016.
During the course study, Mr.DO VAN CUONG overcame the difficulties on Chinese language and knowledge structure, and successfully finished all required courses with average mark as 90.6 and GPA as 4.21. In academic research,Mr.DO VAN CUONG actively combined the theories with practice,devoted himself in lab research, and have published several high level academic papers in international journals with the guidance of his supervisor.
As a Chinese Government Scholarship students, Mr.DO VAN CUONG is always devoting himself to social contribution and sharing academic experience, which made a great representative of study in DMU. We believe, Mr.DO VAN CUONG will continue to make more progress and achievements in the future, and make more contributions to the positive energy of study in DMU.
2、Mr.ARSLAN MUHAMMAD, Chinese name:阿斯兰, Pakistani, 2018 batch PhD student majoring in Marine Engineering, supervisor: Prof. Liu Yancheng. Mr.ARSLAN MUHAMMAD was granted Chinese Government Scholarship and studied in DMU from September 2018.
With great enthusiasm in his major, Mr.ARSLAN MUHAMMAD is positively recognized and praised by his supervisor and course teachers for his study attitude and clear objectives. Under the guidance of his supervisors, Mr.ARSLAN MUHAMMAD has published several high quality academic papers.
Besides academic research, Mr.ARSLAN MUHAMMAD has always been actively engaged in various kinds of academic and social activities including jointly organizing Model IMO Session, International Culture Festival etc. We believe that Mr.ARSLAN MUHAMMAD will continuously make more progress in the future and make more contributions on helping and guiding other international students.
