On October 24th, the Interpretation Final of the Golden Age-The 2nd “CC Cup” International Chinese Culture Translation Contest was held in Kaifeng, Henan Province. TAN BO NIAN, an international student from Malaysia, majoring in Nautical Science of the 2017 Class, won the First Prize in the Interpretation Final for international students.
The contest includespreliminary and final rounds.The preliminary rounds were held online from June 2ndto June 18th. In the final,TAN BO NIAN successfully completed interpretation from English to Chinese with the subject of Terra-Cotta Warriors and interpretation from Chinese to English with the subject of Traditional Chinese Clothing of the Han Dynasty. In the intense quick response part, he was the first to interpret three classic verses in succession. They are “The setting sun seems to subline, but it is near its dying time”, “You can enjoy a great sight, by climbing to a greater height” and “If one has no cares for future, he must have worries for now”.His success in this contest demonstrated the teaching achievements of DMU in international students education.

The Golden Age-The 2nd “CC Cup” International Chinese Culture Translation Contestwas co-organized by more than 150 enterprises and universities. A total of 15153 persons from more than 486 universities and enterprises took part in the contest, including Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Beijing Language and Culture University, etc. The contest aims to promote mutual learning among countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and build a community with a shared future for mankind. In the process of making the Chinese culture known and understood around the world, the position of Chinese culture in the global language system is to be reconstructed. The contest is further to expand the international influence of China, improve the image of China, introduce and promote Chinese traditional culture, as well as display the cultural confidence of Chinese nation.
