DMU International Students Participated in the 2024 World Transportation Conference and Made Academic Reports

The 2024 World Transport Convention (WTC), jointly hosted by the China Highway and Transportation Society, China Institute of Navigation, China Railway Society, Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China Society of Automotive Engineers, and China Air Transport Association, was held at the Qingdao World Expo City in Shandong Province from June 26th to 29th. The theme of this conference is "New Transportation in Change". Through parallel forums, achievement releases, special activities, and other forms, the event deeply explored and exchanged relevant academic, technological, and international cooperation topics, and provided suggestions for the new transportation in change.


As a member unit of the WTC International Student Work Committee, Dalian Maritime University International Students Education Center actively organized international students to participate in the conference and submit their papers. After strict evaluation by experts of the conference, a total of 13 papers and long abstracts of DMU international students were included in the conference and invited to give academic presentations. Among them, Tanzanian PhD student in Marine Engineering MAIRUSYA LAWRENT GORDON was invited to give an academic report at the WTC2024 International Student Forum. Laotian PhD student in Logistics Engineering and Management NAOKOUMMALY PHANGCHANH, Vietnamese PhD student in Transportation Planning and Management HOANG PHUC HAI, Thai PhD student in Logistics Engineering and Management NETIRITH MISS NARTHSIRINTH, Pakistani PhD student in Law KHAN MUNEEB, Djibouti PhD student in Logistics Engineering and Management WAISS ALI ADEN, Pakistani PhD student in Marine Engineering IQBAL RASHID, Pakistani PhD student in Marine Engineering ASHRAF MUDDASSAR, Pakistani Law masters student JAVAID SAMAN, Pakistani Law masters student BATOOL MINIRVA, Togolese Law master's student GBOTCHO AKOUA SEPENYON, and Pakistani Computer Science and Technology master's student AON MUHAMMAD etc. were invited to give academic reports at the parallel forums of the conference.


With sufficient data analysis, solid scientific research demonstration, and vivid explanation and analysis, DMU international students focused on sharing their latest research results around the development of the world transportation, which received positive responses from teachers and students presented and high praises from experts. They engaged in active academic exchanges and discussions with other Chinese and foreign scholars attending the conference on the new trends and developments in the field of transportation.



During the conference, DMU international students also participated in the Perception of China series activities organized by the WTC International Student Work Committee, and went to the Qingdao SCO International Expo Center to systematically understand the construction of the SCO demonstration zone; Experienced the cultural customs from various countries in the National Element Museum; Visited the China Shanghai Cooperation Organization School of Economics and Trade to experience the achievements of SCO development and construction on site; Visited the Haiqing Town and experienced the cultural connotations of traditional Chinese tea.


The World Transportation Conference, which has been successfully held for seven times, is one of the most influential industry events in China's transportation industry and enjoys a high reputation in both international and domestic transportation fields. This year, the conference was co hosted by six national authoritative academic institutions for the first time, with its academic, leading, and forward-looking characteristics becoming the most distinctive feature of the conference. This event not only allowed international students to learn about new achievements, concepts, trends, and technologies in the field of transportation, but also enhanced their perception and understanding of Chinese culture and social development. In the future, the International Students Education Center of DMU will continue to play the role as a member unit of the WTC International Student Work Committee, strengthen communication and cooperation with universities and enterprises in the field of transportation, establish more academic cooperation and cultural exchange platforms, jointly cultivate composite high-end international talents, and deliver more youth strength to the world transportation industry.
