To help newly enrolled international students gain a deeper understanding of the school's long history and profound cultural heritage, the International Students’ Education Center (ISEC) organized international students to visit the Dalian Maritime University (DMU) Maritime Education Museum, as the 1^st activity of the "First Class of the School". More than 30 international students from over 10 countries gathered together to embark on exploring the journey of DMU development and understanding the spirit of navigation.

Under the guidance of the instructor, the international students visited various exhibition halls of the museum in an orderly manner. Through precious historical photos, literature materials, and physical exhibits, they gained a deep understanding of DMU's development history since it’s establishment in 1909 as well as the fruitful achievements it has made in talent cultivation, scientific research innovation, and serving the construction of a strong transportation country since the reform and opening up. The international students listened carefully to the explanation, observed each exhibit carefully, actively asked questions and exchanged ideas. They were amazed by the century long history of DMU as well as its mission of serving the world's transportation. They also gained new inspiration and strength to their future study life at DMU

Dalian Maritime University is known as the "cradle of navigators", and its development history represents the development process of higher maritime education of China. The Maritime Education Museum of DMU is the first specialized museum on maritime education in China. As the first stop of the "First Class of the school" series of activities for international students this semester, the visit aims to help international students better perceive the development process of China's higher maritime education, deeply understand the school motto of "Gathering knowledge from myriad sources, extending virtue to the boundless seas", and enhance their sense of identity, belonging and pride. With the start of the new semester, the International Students’ Education Center will organize more diverse cultural activities to expand the second classroom of study in China, providing more opportunities for international students to understand Chinese culture and perceive China.
