Dear students:
In June, International Students’ Education Center is about to host its annual grand event-the 6th International Cultural Festival of Dalian Maritime University! To create a vibrant and multicultural celebration, we sincerely invite all international students to participate in the creative design activity for this year’s festival. Whether you are a design expert, an art enthusiast, or a creative thinker with unique ideas, this is your stage to showcase your talent!
1.Collection Types
1）Backdrop Design
The backdrop is one of the core visual elements of the cultural festival, serving as the main stage background to showcase the diversity and harmony of international cultures. Design requirements: rich colors, clear themes, and reflecting of characteristics of various cultures and their harmonious integration.
2）Poster Design
The poster of the cultural festival is like the face of a person, and needs to catch people’s interest and convey the details of the activity. Design requirements: unique creativity, strong visual impact, and reflecting of the diversity of international cultures. The space for the basic information can be reserved, such as the event name, time and venue.
3）Photo Board Design
The photo board is a must-have prop for participants to take pictures and commemorate the event. The design should be fun and interactive. Design requirements: lively style, clear themes, and attracting participants to take photos and share them on social media.
4）Cultural and Creative Gifts Design
Cultural and Creative Gifts are the souvenirs of the festival, and the design should be practical and culturally meaningful, which can be fridge magnets, stationery, eco-bags, etc. Design requirements: compact, exquisite, creative and reflecting the characteristics of the International Cultural Festival or the International Students’ Education Center.
2.Participants
All enrolled international students and alumni of Dalian Maritime University
3.Submission Requirements
1）Works must be original and must not plagiarize or infringe on others’ intellectual property rights. Otherwise, you are not qualified for participating in this activity.
2）Design format: Digital submissions should be in JPG format with a resolution of at least 300dpi; freehand sketching should be scanned and submitted as high-definition image.
3）Please submit with your works a brief design description (within 100 words) to explain the design concept and inspiration.
4.Evaluation and Awards
1）All submission will be evaluated based on creativity, aesthetics and cultural relevance.
2）The activity will have 1 First Prize Winner, 2 Second Prize Winners and 3 Third Prize Winners, with honorary certificates and exquisite gifts.
3）Outstanding works will be used for the promotion and decoration of the 6th International Cultural Festival of Dalian Maritime University and may be produced into concrete displays or distributed as souvenirs. The authors of the works used in the cultural festival will receive additional awards.
5.Submission
Please submit your works and the registration form to Qi Laoshi of Student Affairs Office (Room 408) of International Students Education Center on Wechat or to qilinlin@dlmu.edu.cn before April 11, 2025 (Friday).
The results will be announced on April 21, 2025 (Monday).
