As I think on my transforming experience at Dalian Maritime University (DMU), I am overwhelmed with appreciation. DMU not only awarded me the highest academic honor–a PhD–but also provided an amazing educational atmosphere, world-class guidance, and lifetime connections. Under the supervision of my outstanding supervisors and alongside brilliant classmates, I have grown both academically and personally, reaching my full potential.

DMU’s culture of excellence and worldwide connectivity, as exemplified by the theme “Perceiving DMU and Connecting with the World,” has shaped my outlook. As an international student from Rwanda, I am greatly moved by the DMU’s 116-year record of innovation and inclusivity. My recollections of intense study, collaborative spirit, and the triumph of my successful thesis defense will continue to motivate me in my future endeavours.

Dear DMU, teachers, and students, thank you for a memorable chapter. May DMU continue to enlighten minds, bridge cultural divides, and lead in environmental science and beyond. As I move forward, I carry DMU’s heritage with pride and a determination to change the world.
