Since the beginning of autumn semester of 2020 year, under the guidance and support of school, International Students’Education Center (ISEC）overcomes of difficulties that most international students can not return to school because of international pandemic situation, made a full plan for registration, education and management of international students both on and off campus. With the joint efforts of all staff members and international students, all related works at the beginning of the new semester have been smoothly progressing online and offline.
Although many international students can not return to school because of the pandemic, all staff members are much more busier than ever before, to ensure the timely registration and smooth education of international students on and off campus requires more than twice of the efforts and works.
For all 2020 batch new international students, especially those can not come to school right now, there are quite a lot of expectations, even confusions about the new study life. To help our students have a better view of the school, be closer to DMU, and get used to new study life easily, ISEC conducted the Entrance Orientation for 2020 batch new postgraduate international students in the afternoon of September 15thboth online and offline at the same time.
Different from the face to face orientation in previous years, this time’s orientation was held both offline (for students on campus) and online (for students off campus) at the same time. More than 40 international students around the world overcame the time difference and participated the activity. Staff members from Academic Affairs Office, Admission Office and Student Affairs office etc. of ISEC met with our students, introducing related information regarding admission, education and management, emphasizing important points of pandemic control measures, and answering questions from students. Everybody felt much more closer beyond physical distances.
By this event, our new international students had a deeper understanding of the school, a more definite conception for the next step study plan, a clearer view of related rules and regulations regarding education, management and pandemic control measures, which helps them build confidence and expectations for the new study life.
ISEC will continue to conduct more activities related to entrance orientation, including the orientation of undergraduate new students, publicity of related laws for international students in China etc. to ensure our orientation activities goes on thoroughly and practically, and to lay a solid foundation for the high quality education work of international students for the new academic year under pandemic control.
