In the afternoon of Oct. 8th, the Opening Ceremony of Batch 2020 Students of Law School was held inauditoriumof DMU. Deans, representatives of staff members, alumni, and more than 400 new students of Law School gathered together for the event. Students that can not return to school due to pandemic attended the event online.

As representative of new international students,PAK SIN HYOKfromDemocratic People's Republic of Koreamade a speech during the ceremony. He introduced the reason of choosing DMU was by the influence and reference from his father who is a maritimearbitrator. He also shared the experience of feeling frustrated at the beginning of his study life, and by the encouragement from his mother, he built up his target and started to forge firmly ahead. He said his dream is to become a scholar as Prof. Si Yuzhuo of DMU, to be the pioneer of laying the foundation of maritime law of DPRK. With this target and responsibility, he gradually overcame difficulties and studied hard, and he begun to enjoy the study life in DMU. He said the 7 years bachelor and master degree study life in DMU was the happiest time in his life and his love of DMU has deeply emerged into his life. He encouraged all new students that, even although we are far away from family and home countries, DMU is our family and teachers of DMU are our family members, for any problems feel free to tell our DMU family members. He hoped that all students do not forget their original dream and pioneer for the dream from DMU.

PAK SIN HYOKstarted his undergraduate program in DMU from 2013 in law major. With his hard work and excellent performance, he was quite welcome by teachers and students. He graduated with advanced grades in July 2017 with bachelor’s degree and July 2020 with master’s degree. He was issued Liaoning Government Scholarship and started PhD program in DMU in September 2020. Since the autumn semester of 2020 begun,PAK SIN HYOKactively participated in series of orientation activities for new students held by school. He introduced his study experience to new students and organized many previous graduates of DMU to share their study suggestions and their best wishes by making videos all of which has given great support and energy to new international students and made active contributions to international students work of DMU. We wishPAK SIN HYOKand all international students to continue progress, work together and learn from each other, to achieve more progress in the future!
