Since beginning of Autumn semester of 2020, facing the situation that domestic pandemic controlgettingground-breaking achievements while international pandemic situation still being complicated, ISEC strictly follows the guidance of school,gradually organized offline and online registration of all international students, to safeguard the well being and safety of all students and staff members.
Although most of new international students abroad still can not return to school. ISEC never stopped overcoming difficulties, and innovating working methods. On the basic of previous entrance orientation experience, series of“First Class”activities for new international students have been conducted. With much more innovative methods, more substantial contents, and better organization, these activities have helped our new students to take the first step steadily and confidently.
In the afternoon of September 15th, ISEC conduct the 1stone of“First Class”activities--2020 batch postgraduate orientation. More than 40 postgraduate new international around the world attended the meeting online. Teachers from different offices of ISEC meet with students online, introducing related regulations from administration to education, policies of pandemic control, as well as answering questions from students. Although being far away from each other by distance, all students and teachers felt quite close.
In the morning of September 25th, the 2ndone of“First Class”activities--2020 batch undergraduate student orientation was held. As all undergraduate new students have returned to school, this event was held offline. Office staff members of ISEC communicate with new students face to face, introducing daily regulations, important issues of passport and visas, and encouraging new students to make friends with Chinese classmates to better emerge into Chinese culture and DMU life.This time orientation has increased one special session: excellent international student representatives introducing study experience. Bachelor and master degree graduate from DMU, current PhD student of Law major PAK SIN HYOK introduced his previous study methods to new students. PAK SIN HYOK also made a video of many DMU international alumni sending their best wishes to ISEC teachers and new students, introducing their study experience and advice which greatly moved all staff members of ISEC and gave courage and confidence to new students.
In the afternoon of September 26th, the 3rdone of“First Class”activities-- Chinese Laws for International Students was held online. Prof. Wu Songyu from Law School provided a fresh outlook of Chinese laws to new students which received positive response from the students who also expressed their own perspectives of Chinese laws.
On September 30th, when getting notice of all undergraduate new students of school start choosing courses, ISEC timely organized all undergraduate new international students to choose courses together. With guidance from office teacher, new students carefully wrote down their student No., passwords of school system, logged onto Jiaowu system, chose courses, and had the first class time table for undergraduate study. They are expecting to meet with Chinese classmates after the holiday, to sit in the same classroom, and progress together.
The whole September was quite busy and fruitful. With the joint efforts of all ISEC staff member and international students, the series of“First Class”activities was successfully completed. We wish all our new international students pioneer from Xinhai lake, take the first step steadily, and embrace more colourful life of study in DMU in the new future.
