The final of the The Third Invitational Moot Arbitration Competition of the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao Colleagues and Universities 2023 was successfully held at Fudan University in Shanghai from August 26 to 27, 2023. This competition is guided by the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the Research Office of the Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and the Legal Department of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council. It is hosted by Fudan University and jointly hosted by the Shanghai International Arbitration Center and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Center. The competition aims to focus on legal and cultural exchange, with the goal of cultivating young talents. It adopts a full English simulated arbitration tribunal competition format to improve the writing skills and court defense skills of young students from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao, allowing young students from different educational backgrounds to enrich their court trial experience, enhance understanding, communicate side by side, and grow together. A total of 115 contestants from 63 universities across the country participated in this competition.

With intense and careful preparation, 3 Pakistani law major postgraduate students, KHAN MUNEEB, ABBAS SYED MUHAMMAD KAFEEL, and ZAFAR EJAZ of Dalian Maritime University, under the guidance of Dr. Liao Boyu from the Law School, have passed the test all the way and entered the final stage of the competition. In a two-day live competition in Shanghai, the 3 international students once again demonstrated deep professional accumulation, flexible adaptability, and strong team spirit. Faced with sharp questions from opponents and mock court judges, they quickly and calmly responded. After the knockout stage and semi-finals, they broke through the tight encirclement and successfully entered the finals, ultimately winning the runner up in the national finals.

This competition provides a rare opportunity for students from all over the country to learn and exercise. The award is not only a positive display of the achievements of DMU international student education, but also an incentive for us to continue optimizing the quality of education and telling the story of China in the future. DMU will continue to build more platforms for international students to showcase themselves and exercise their abilities, allowing young students from all over the world to shine the most beautiful light on the stage of studying in China.
