At the end of summer and beginning of autumn, by the side of Xinhai Lake at Dalian Mairtime University, new and old international students from all over the world have started their study journey for the new semester after completingthe first week of registration. This week, the International Students’ Education Center(ISEC) launched a series of activities focusing on new student entrance orientation, helping different types of students to have a comprehensive understanding of the new journey of studying in China, prepare well, and set sail.
On the afternoon of September 11th, Room 107 of ISEC was fully occupied, and new international students received their first entrance orientation here. Ms. Peng Xuefei, Deputy Director of ISEC, first delivered a speech, welcoming more than 80 new international students from over 30 countries to study at DMU. At the same time, she put forward three expectations to the students: cherish the opportunity to study in China and serve the construction and development of their motherlands; Build a bridge for cultural exchange between China and foreign countries; Being determined to move forward, and achieve success at DMU. Subsequently, teachers from various offices of ISEC introduced the functions of each office and reminded students of the key points to pay attention to in their study life in China.
For this entrance orientation, we also invited three police officers from the Exit Entry Administration of Dalian Public Security Bureau, Officer Zhao Dongzhe, Han Feng, and Li Heming. The police officers provided the freshmen with a detailed introduction to the laws and regulations that students need to be aware of when studying in China and Dalian, and instilled in them the awareness and determination to abide by the law and regulations from the beginning of enrollment.
On the afternoon of September 12th and 13th, ISEC conducted teaching and training related entrance orientations for new undergraduate and postgraduate international students respectively. The teachers introduced in details the learning related management regulations for different types of international students, from course selection, exams to thesis and defense, and emphasized key aspects such as attendance, communication with teachers and supervisors, and graduation qualifications. They also provided operational guidance for various commonly used service systems such as the school's academic system, graduate school system, and library website. At the same time, they provided detailed answers to students' concerns.
Through repeated introductions and exchanges, we saw pairs of hopeful and enthusiastic eyes, with sincere and hopeful lights. We understood each other and enhanced trust through communication. The new semester has begun, and we believe all students are ready to embark on a wonderful journey of studying in China. Let us raise the sail of study at DMU and move forward hand in hand in the ocean of knowledge and culture, using different languages to form a blue chapter of common love and dreams.
