On December 15th, China Merchants Group held a charity and public welfare event with the theme of "C the World, C the Future" at the Shenzhen Maritime World Cultural and Art Center. Group Chairman Miao Jianmin delivered a video speech; Group General Manager Shi Dai and Director of the Social Responsibility Bureau of the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council Li Jun attended the event and delivered speeches; Zhong Guodong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Group, presided over the speech segment at the event; More than 200 people, including leaders from China Population Welfare Foundation, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Nanshan District of Shenzhen City, Yi, Hui and Miao Autonomous County of Guizhou Province, Qichun County of Hubei Province, China Merchants Group headquarters and secondary companies and designated counties supported by the Group, representatives of relevant academic research institutions, industry associations, education industry, charity organizations and other partners, as well as staff representatives of the Group attended the event.
Miao Jianmin and Shi Dai respectively expressed in their speeches that China Merchants Group has always adhered to the value concept of "C the World, C the Future", created a "C public welfare" global social responsibility brand system, and continuously promoted the responsibility of global economic, social and environmental sustainable development. Li Jun affirmed the outstanding contributions made by central enterprises represented by China Merchants Group in fulfilling their social responsibilities and placed high expectations on the future.
The event launched the third phase of the "Let Life Hears the Voice" project of the central enterprise's public welfare assistance for the disabled in Shache County, Xinjiang. It also held the launch ceremony of the new book "History of China Merchants Charity and Public Welfare" and the VI renewal launch ceremony of China Merchants' "C Public Welfare" sub brand, the closing market of China Merchants' 2024 Consumer Assistance "Harvest Festival", and the commendation ceremony for China Merchants' excellent volunteer actions.
In the exhibition section, the achievements of China Merchants Group's public welfare and charity projects in 27 countries around the world were showcased through five chapters: "patriotism," "self-improvement," "dedication," "integration," and "inheritance." The performances were jointly presented by China Merchants Group's charity partner groups from various regions, including Xinjiang Shache Special Education School, Xinjiang Shache Art Troupe, China Merchants Weining Yucai Middle School, Hong Kong Peiqiao Academy, Hong Kong Dance Troupe, Hong Kong String Orchestra, China Merchants Shekou 1872 Chorus, Dalian Maritime University Sea Blue Band, and employees of the group's second level companies.
The Seablue band, composed of teacher An Gang from DMU International Students’ Education Center, Pakistani master's student HASSAN MUHAMMAD USMAN, and Papua New Guinea master's student AMET SAUL PAUL, together with other students and volunteers of C Blue program, jointly performed the song "C the World, C the Future" created by An Gang for the C Blue Talent Program, expressing the beautiful vision of young people from China and abroad to learn from each other, grow together, and work together to create a better future with the support of the China Merchants C Blue Talent Program. They showcased the positive achievements and profound significance of China Merchants C series public welfare brands, and generated positive resonance and warm response among the guests and audience on site.
As sung in the lyrics: “C Blue is a journey towards blue dreams to make our hearts connected; With a shared future, we connect the world.” As one of the important partners of China Merchants C Blue Talent Program, since 2019, DMU has selected 32 outstanding international student representatives to participate in the program. They share knowledge and value with other young students from China and abroad, while witnessing the development process and successful experience of China Merchants Group, actively telling the story of China's transportation and sharing the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. In the future, the International Students’ Education Center will continue to serve as a bridge of friendship and communication, providing a cultural exchange platform for more young students studying at DMU to participate in more Chinese corporate social welfare activities represented by China Merchants Group, promoting cultural exchanges and common growth between Chinese and foreign youth, and working together to create a better future for humanity.
