In order to improve the earthquake prevention and emergency response capabilities of international students and staff members, guide and standardize earthquake prevention and emergency response work, help teachers and students better grasp the correct methods of emergency earthquake prevention, familiarize themselves with the procedures and routes of emergency evacuation after an earthquake, and ensure that evacuation can be carried out quickly, efficiently, and orderly when an earthquake occurs, at 10:00 am on December 21, The International Students’ Education Center conducted earthquake emergency evacuation exercise in the teaching building and Yihua 1 Apartment, with more than 100 teachers and students participating in the activity.
Before the exercise, the organizing teacher sent detailed information on the exercise process, emergency response methods, evacuation routes, etc. to all teachers and students to learn in advance and have a clear understanding. The formal drill includes two stages: indoor emergency response and emergency evacuation. In the indoor emergency response session, teachers and students in the offices, classrooms, and dormitory follow the principle of nearby sheltering, quickly sheltered in safe places such as under tables and corners, and pay attention to protecting the head, avoiding windows, correcting inappropriate measures, etc.
In the emergency evacuation process, teachers and students follow the principles of speed and order, complete the safe evacuation in an orderly manner according to the command and predetermined route. Finally, all participating teachers and students watched the earthquake emergency guide video together in the lobby of the first floor of the teaching building, further deepening their knowledge of earthquake prevention and safety.
Through this activity, the teachers and students of the International Students’ Education Center not only enhanced their safety awareness and knowledge of earthquake and disaster prevention, but also further enhanced their ability to response, escape, and self rescue during earthquakes. On the basis of the continuous fire drills, legal lectures, safety education and other work carried out in the early stage, the International Students’ Education Center will continue to take maintaining a safe campus as the guiding point, and serving teachers and students as its own responsibility, to promote the construction of emergency mechanisms, popularize safety knowledge, increase safety risk investigation and emergency drills, to solidly promote the construction of a safe campus.
