To celebrate the 40th Teacher's Day of the People's Republic of China and commend the outstanding teachers who have emerged in the fields of talent cultivation and teaching in the past year, Dalian Maritime University's 2024 Teacher's Day Celebration and Commendation Conference was held on the afternoon of September 10, 2024, with the theme of "vigorously promoting the spirit of educators and accelerating the construction of an educational powerhouse".
Related school leaders attended the event, representatives of retired teachers, teachers with over 30 years of teaching experience, new teachers, commended teachers, middle-level cadres, and representatives of teachers and students attended the event, to celebrate Teacher's Day and pay tribute to the hardworking teachers.
At this conference, more than 70 teachers were commended because of the outstanding achievements in field of education and scientific research. Li Yanan, a Chinese language teacher at the International Students’ Education Center, won the first prize in the New Liberal Arts category of 2023 Theoretical Classroom Teaching Competition and the First Teaching Innovation Competition at Dalian Maritime University for her outstanding performance. She took the stage as a teacher representative to receive recognition at the conference and shared teaching achievements with other teachers and students.

On the eve of Teacher's Day in 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping wrote a letter to outstanding teacher representatives across the country, proposing the unique spirit of educators in China: "The ideal belief of having a great self and sincerely serving the country, the moral sentiment of speaking as a scholar and acting as a role model for the world, the wisdom of educating students based on their aptitude, the diligent and innovative attitude of learning and practicing, the benevolent heart of loving students and being willing to dedicate oneself, the broad mindedness of the world, and the pursuit of cultivating student by culture”. It embodies the earnest expectations and heavy trust for the vast number of teachers. The teachers on the front line of international student education are not only knowledge transmitters, but also cultural narrators and disseminators of great love. The International Students’ Education Center will adhere to the educational spirit of "vigorously promoting the spirit of educators and accelerating the construction of an educational power", deeply enhance the teaching and training of international students in China, continuously explore and cultivate excellent teaching staff, spread the narrative system of China's higher maritime education to more young international talents, and serve the internationalization of the school, the construction of an educational and transportation power, and the future developmeent of world transportation.
