On the afternoon of October 9th, the International Students’ Education Center (ISEC) organized a perception activity for new international students to enhance their understanding of the city of Dalian and experience its urban development and cultural charm. A total of 50 new international students from 13 countries including Pakistan, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Equatorial Guinea, Djibouti, and Thailand participated.
The students first arrived at the Dalian Urban Planning Exhibition Center. This is not only an important window to showcase the historical changes, current situation, and future development of Dalian's urban construction, but also an important carrier to promote Dalian both domestically and internationally. Students visited major exhibition halls such as the City Impression Exhibition Hall, City History Exhibition Hall, and Sand Table Exhibition Hall. Through listening to explanations, reading graphic and textual exhibition boards, watching sand tables and promotional videos, they intuitively felt the "past and present" of Dalian's urban development and understood the city's development and construction from a new perspective.
Subsequently, the students arrived at the North Bridge along the Binhai Road. This bridge is a dry bridge located near the sea and mountains, spanning a valley. It is a key point that runs through the entire Dalian Seaside Scenic Area's east-west coastal road. The majestic bridge piers and tall bridge towers are connected by long main steel cables, like the arms of a towering giant linking two mountain ranges. Students walked across the bridge and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of mountains and seas, blue sea and sky, and deeply immersed in the perfect combination of natural scenery and cultural atmosphere. Finally, everyone took a bus across the Xinghai Bay Bridge, and the students were amazed by the grandeur of the bridge and the development achievements of modern Chinese architecture
Through this city perception activity, new international students have gained a direct and in-depth understanding of Dalian's historical accumulation, cultural heritage, good ecology, and development potential, enhancing their sense of identity and closeness towards this northern coastal city. We believe that starting from here, students will gain more knowledge and write more beautiful stories in their future study journey in China.
