In April, all things revive, and full of vitality and energy. In order to help international students to immerse themselves in the natural and spring like Dalian and China, the International Students’ Education Center organized a cultural experience trip to Lushunkou District, Dalian City, which is known as "half of modern Chinese history", on April 18th. A total of 37 international students from 17 countries participated in the event.
With excitement, the students set off early and arrived at the first stop - Tieshan Street, Lushunkou District. Under the careful guidance and introduction of the staff, the students visited the former site of the Agricultural Supply and Marketing Cooperative and the Lushunkou District Theater, and learned about the development history, current situation, and future planning of Tieshan Street. The staff of the street office also showcased a special traditional Chinese art called clapper board, which deeply attracted everyone to capture the wonderful moment.
Later, the students came to Laotieshan, which is located at the southernmost tip of Liaodong Peninsula. Laotie Mountain has a unique natural landscape and a long history and culture. It has undulating mountains and beautiful peaks. It was once one of the important stops of the ancient Silk Road and witnessed the exchange and integration of Eastern and Western civilizations. Everyone immerses themselves in it, relaxing both physically and mentally, while experiencing the magical charm of nature and admiring the glorious history of human civilization.
The students left Laotieshan and came to the last stop - Lushun Museum. It has been rated as one of the first national first-class museums along with the Palace Museum, and is the first museum in Northeast China. It was built in 1915 and has a history of over 100 years. There is no hustle and bustle like other museums here. Students slow down, immerse themselves in observing and experiencing the cultural connotations and time marks hidden in each collection. Each precious cultural relic tells the profound and silent history of this old city, where international students crossed time and space to engage in dialogue with modern Chinese history.
Culture is colorful through communication and enriched through mutual learning. We believe that this cultural experience journey will leave more imprints of Chinese culture in the hearts of international students. We hope that they will be ambassadors for promoting cultural exchange between China and foreign countries, and make more contributions in promoting exchanges and mutual learning between different countries, ethnic groups, and cultures. Let us work together to paint a beautiful and shared picture of human civilization.
