International Students of Dalian Maritime University Visited Enterprises in the Dalian Economic and Technological Development Zone

On April 22nd, the compulsory course "Professional Observation Internship" for the English medium Master's program in Logistics Engineering and Management came out of the classroom and entered into logistics related enterprises in the the Dalian Economic and Technological Development Zone. Under the guidance of the course teacher - Prof. Li Na from the  Transportation Engineering College, 9 international students had an intimate encounter with Chinese enterprises.


In the morning, teachers and students set off early from the school and drove to the Dalian Jujin Automobile Trading Transportation Co., Ltd located in the development zone. Staff members Tang Lina, Sun Shifu, Zhu Huixin, and others from the company's human resources department specially accompanied the teachers and students during the visit. They first introduced the overview of the enterprise, and then introduced the safety precautions during the visit. After wearing protective equipment such as helmets, teachers and students walked into the logistics island storage and station site. Accompanied by staff explanations and teachers on-site translation, students observed on-site operations such as facility equipment and logistics value-added services, and understood the process of automobile parts distribution and transportation.. Before the visit ended, the staff also summarized and reviewed with everyone, and answered the questions raised by students. Under the professional and orderly arrangements, the morning visit ended smoothly.



In the afternoon, teachers and students came to Dalian Wujia International Trade Co., Ltd. Chairperson He Ying first introduced the company's development history and emphasized the good development trend of the company under the mutual promotion of commerce and logistics. She combined her experience of studying in Japan to encourage international students to cherish the opportunity of study abroad and use the professional knowledge learned in China to serve their motherlands and people. Subsequently, under the guidance of Liu Haibo, director of the Northeast Frontier Logistics Center under the Wujia International, and Liu Peng, chairperson assistant (legal director), the students successively entered the room temperature warehouse and refrigerated warehouse to experience the modern logistics management of informatization and digitization, observe and learn the storage methods and sorting processes of various goods, and personally tried the operation process of seeding mode sorting. Everyone is very interested, thinking deeply, and constantly raising high-quality questions from aspects such as workflow, order quantity optimization, equipment and facility planning.




The enriching and unforgettable visiting experience of a day has come to an end unconsciously. Students have gained a more genuine understanding of the cutting-edge technologies and management methods of two Chinese companies, and the professional theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom has been further consolidated and understood. Through contact with the management and staff of the companies, students have felt the business philosophy and management wisdom of Chinese companies, and have been greatly inspired and encouraged.


As one of the measures to optimize the quality of international student education, the International Students Education Center has made "Professional Observation and Internship" a compulsory part of the training programs for postgraduate international students in various majors. Encouraging colleges and teachers to fully leverage their resource advantages, lead students to visit Chinese enterprises on site, and truly understand the current development status and experience of China's transportation and related industries. While improving the practical and thinking abilities of international students, it also opens up a new window for them to understand the developing China and provides them with useful inspiration for their future academic research and career planning.
