On June 15th, the "2024 Perception of China - Xinghai International Student Financial Academic Exchange Conference" , sponsored by the China Scholarship Council, hosted by Northeast University of Finance and Economics, and co organized by the International Student Academic Guidance Center of Northeast University of Finance and Economics, was successfully held. More than 120 international students from 47 countries majoring in economics and management of 5 universities, including Dalian University of Technology, Dalian Maritime University, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian Jiaotong University, and Northeast University of Finance and Economics, gathered at the foot of Jianshan to discuss cutting-edge financial and economic issues, offering suggestions for China's development and world prosperity, and contributing to telling the story of China to the outside world. DMU Bangladeshi doctoral student TAHFIM SYED AS SADEQ was invited to give an academic presentation at the conference, while DMU Rwandan master’s program student UMURANGAMIRWA AIMEE, Vietnamese master’s program student PHAN THI HOAI THUONG, Pakistani master’s program student GHAFFAR ABDUL, and Zimbabwean master’s program student MUZA JOHN TANATSWA were invited to attended the conference.
During the keynote speech session, DMU doctoral student TAHFIM SYED AS SADEQ majoring in Management Science and Engineering gave an academic presentation titled "Comparison of Cluster based Sampling Approaches for Balanced Data of Crashes Involving Large Trucks", analyzing the explanatory power of different sampling methods on practical problems in the freight industry. He shared his research achievements and experience of study in China with other 6 graduate students from other universities. The active communication and interaction between the reporters and the teachers and students present broadened their academic horizons and opened up research ideas.
The event also invited staff from the Party and Mass Work Department, Business Environment Bureau, Economic Development Bureau of Dalian Free Trade Zone, and police officers from the Exit Entry Management Branch of Dalian Public Security Bureau to provide detailed introductions to the latest policies, procedures, and common issues related to innovation and entrepreneurship for foreign personnel in Dalian. In the poster presentation section, 13 Chinese and foreign graduate students presented their research paper results in the form of posters and exchanged ideas with their classmates about the writing process of the paper. At the closing ceremony, Deng Lili, Dean of the International Education College at Northeastern University of Finance and Economics, presented certificates to the keynote speakers, poster presenters, and event organizers.
The purpose of this academic exchange conference was to gather the wisdom of Chinese and foreign students in the fields of economics and management of universities in Dalian, jointly explore the opportunities and challenges faced by China and the world's economic development, share academic achievements, and enhance mutual communication. DMU international students actively demonstrated the cultivation achievements and spiritual style of "Study at DMU" during the event, and issued the voice of DMU to promote the revitalization and development of Liaoning and promote scientific and cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
